Remembering Your Sacred Nature Retreat

September 19-22, 2024 at Merrie Woode in magical Sapphire Valley, NC

Recharge, renew, receive and practice gratitude.

Recharge, renew, receive and practice gratitude.

Are you ready to clear what no longer serves you and invite the new in your life?

Remembering Your Sacred Nature is a carefully curated retreat dedicated to finding a deeper and more meaningful way to live than what the news, social media, family and the demands of our ever critical, competitive society tell us.

Here, in this place, we can take down the masks we think the world asks us to wear, and take time to tune into the wise, exuberant, yet quieter voice of our hearts, and acknowledge with gratitude and appreciation, all of our many blessings as we invite guidance and confidence in our way forward.

Here, in the lap of beauty, in the depths of an old growth forest, in the ancient and mystical Appalachian mountains, you will set into motion a new way of being that will continue to evolve and expand exponentially throughout the months and years to come.

A feast for the soul, filled with good company, good food, enriching conversation, and the perfect amount of movement and rest …

Here, magic and miracles live. And God is clearly in everything.

Limited to 8 amazing women.

Remembering Your Sacred Nature Retreat is:

  • A space for nourishing and replenishing your heart, mind, body and soul.

  • A place for you to connect with your God and your highest Self - your own Sacred Nature.

  • Carefully and lovingly designed if you are in need of a break, if you are looking for change and a strong, gentle nudge to pursue your personal dreams or for the pilgrim on a spiritual journey.

  • The perfect place to heal your body, mind, and spirit from the inside out.

  • Held in beautiful places amidst brilliant colors, surrounded by sights and smells that stimulate all of your senses and draw you effortlessly into the present moment, where all the magic happens.

  • A safe and sacred time to explore doubts, worries and self criticism, to release your old patterns of thought and action with gratitude, to invite and receive the New with grace and ease.

  • Empowering, down to your very essence, so that you can return to daily life rejuvenated, inspired, and more confident in your direction.

  • Infused with Martha’s twinkling nature, sense of playfulness, love of laughter and deep belief in mystery, magic, your body’s ability to heal itself, and the power of Source within you.

“I love attending these retreats with Martha because they provide for and celebrate the important work of pausing to reflect on all that we are, all that we have, and all that we do in relationship to ourselves and each other. Martha’s deep and studied understanding of our spiritual experiences and the beauty and ancient wisdom of the natural world is a powerful combination that encourages growth and hope. The company of other seeking, compassionate and non-judgmental companions on the journey is just gravy!”

~ Bess

“Every time I hike, I see and notice things, and I can hear you … It’s like a little bit of you is with me.”

~ Jill

“Now we have finished a very slow paced walk in the woods with the stated intention of FOREST BATHING and it also brings a sense of calm and easy breathing. The path was soft and plushly carpeted with the jewel-toned leaves of autumn, and the sounds of the wind really did feel like the whisperings from something much bigger letting us know we were welcome in the sacred space, and that just being there was our whispered password back that gave us passage into the sanctuary.”

~ Lori

Our Daily Rhythm ~ Loose & Flexible

Mornings into Afternoon:

After morning tea and coffee, we will welcome the sun as it rises over Little Bald Mountain on the banks of Lake Fairfield. With the ancient practice of Qi Gong, we will ground ourselves and bless the day, expand our own life force energy, and invite the next phase of growth and evolution that our spirits long to discover.

Gentle hiking after morning talks. Forest bathing and our creative, intuitive brain explorations through tapping, meditation, sound and breath work, in awareness and in tune with the season of year, letting go of all that no longer feeds or serves us.

In all retreats, we will learn and practice ideas and tools to lead us into the wilderness of our souls and back into alignment with our True Selves ~ our Sacred Nature.

Here is where peace and perfect health abide. Here is where you re-member what you came to this Earth to do. Here is where you tune into new dreams and inspiration to live your life more fully. All it takes is your little willingness.

Late Afternoons:

Rest, massage, and time on your own into a class of gentle yoga and stretch in the company of supportive, interesting,  like-minded women.

Evenings:

Dinner leads us in good stories, laughter, nurturing discussions, healing meditations and The Great Silence.

Your investment includes:

  • Healthy, clean, organic, beautiful locally sourced and prepared food

  • Gentle hiking, yoga, QiGong, soothing meditations, Emotional Freedom Technique practices (Tapping), breath work

  • Tools and techniques for finding the calm within any storm ~ ways to empower your resilience and self confidence

“Thanks to you and Tara and the construct of the retreat you created a place where I was safe, I was loved, and I was free to do anything I wanted or needed. Judgment and rigor were removed. Expanse and sky were opened for me. The entire experience released a self-imposed hold and opened my heart and moved me much further along in my search to accept myself.”

~ Anne

“We noiselessly went about getting our morning tea and coffee in this beautiful place. Silently sharing the interior space of the warm house with 9 other beings – breath and the beginning of NEW came easily.”

~ Lori

Lake Fairfield at Merrie Woode

About The Place: Camp Merrie Woode

Located on almost 500 acres in the ancient and mystical Appalachian Mountains near the Eastern Continental Divide, Merrie Woode has been the summer home to young girls and women for over 100 years.

This charming place is where campers come year after year to learn about themselves, what they can achieve when they set their minds to a goal, how to step more fully into who they are at their core when they step away from the roles they learn to play at home. These young women experience infinite potential and possibilities . . . in physical achievements, in joy, in connection with others, in self confidence, and in unconditional love. Here, among peers, they often experience their first proof and deep understanding of the power of their focus, determination, intentions and thoughts. And they learn the importance of play and laughter.

Merrie Woode’s magic supports us as grown women in these retreats in the same ways.  We won’t be in cabins, but in Merrie Woode’s alumnae house High Heaven.  Rustic but comfortable, with 9 bedrooms and 8 private baths, High Heaven is the perfect place for our group to settle in, explore our hearts and souls while asking for our what’s next.

“Depending on where an individual is in their life – whether they just need to take a break, or they needed a strong, gentle nudge to pursue personal dreams, or like me, a seeker on a pilgrimage – I strongly believe what you and Tara have created and bring personally to the moment is what The Sacred Nature Retreat is all about.”

~ Anne

“I attended Martha's retreat where I benefited in body, mind and soul. Her thoughtfully and carefully planned Retreat was filled with morning qigong, walks on the beach, kayaking and swimming in the bay, bike riding and walks through historical neighborhoods, fascinating talks full of wonderful knowledge and wisdom, Tapping techniques and mediations, and fun, sun and laughter with like-minded women.

Mementos from that trip include an embroidered beach towel, a journal filled with inspiring poems created especially for the retreat by Martha and Tara, a book of poems by John O’Donohue, Tapping meditation scripts and a guided video of Martha’s daily Qigong to follow on a regular basis.”
